Fergie is a excellent upland hunter, great at chasing down those pheasants and busting brush while staying easily within gun-range. She went hunting in North Dakota last winter (Nov 2011) and had an excellent trip! She was truly the "go - to" dog for working the heavy cover to find those wily roosters, and also retrieved many geese for the whole group. She converted more than one "Lab guy" into a believer in the true Golden Retriever!
Fergie has a great water attitude and loves to work. She is a quick learner, athletic and intelligent with an excellent nose. Fergie easily received her AKC Junior Hunter Title in 4 out of 4 tests. She is enthusiastic yet controlled, and honest through water and cover during both training and Tests. Fergie handles pressure well, and will do anything to get her bird, a true retriever. She runs blinds as hard as she runs marks, and has the tenacity to get even very difficult birds.
Fergie is also an excellent house dog, calm and relaxed in the house. She is very sweet and loves to cuddle or play with toys. She has a wavy, dark red coat with lighter feathering that sheds water well and is very low maintenance.
